TSV Westerland

The Westerlanders are taking off again.

The basketball players of TSV Westerland have had exciting weeks: On Sunday, 21 November, the boys U18 of the district class showed what they can do – at least in the first quarters, which they clearly dominated. “In the end, unfortunately, our strike rate dropped,” said coach Kemal Yildiz. “TuS Nortorf had more rebounds and three of our players were fouled.” On the other hand, the Westerlanders unfortunately did not arrive and had to admit defeat in the end with a 13-point deficit.

After the men of the district class under coach Goetz Petersen won on 13 and 21 November with a clear lead against the two Kiel teams “Kieler Förde Baskets” and KTB, they had to suffer a narrow defeat on Sunday, 28 November, only one point behind the first in the rankings, Preetzer TSV. “The opponents were highly concentrated until the end,” recalls player Lucas Nielsen. “In the end, we got too emotional and lacked the creativity to make up for the last points.”

Next Saturday, 4 December, the team now wants to show that they have learned from their mistakes: At 2 p.m., the next home game against the second in the rankings, TSV Kronshagen, will start in the sports hall of the Realschule Westerland. “We worked through the last game very well in training and are now ready to build on our victories against Kiel,” Nielsen promised. In order for this to work safely, however, the Westerlanders need the support of their fans: All Westerlanders are therefore cordially invited to cheer on the Westerland basketball players on Saturday. Kick-off is at 2 p.m. In the public gallery, 2G and masks are mandatory.
